SIYA’S BLOOMING BIRTHDAY
This is a tale that will leave you with a necessary life lesson
Siya is celebrating her 16th birthday. She was expecting materialistic gifts from her parents like dresses, shoes, etc. Her friends gifted her toys, dresses, watches, and other items she loved.
Whereas her Mom and Dad gave her a present beautifully covered, it was a rectangular-shaped small packet. She unwrapped it and found a pack of sunflower seeds in it. She was disappointed and shocked for once. Because she wasn’t expecting it. But she consoled herself and wished to see a sunflower that she just drew in her drawing class.
She planted it the other day, took care of it, and slowly a few days passed. She could see no progress and hence got frustrated many times. After a few more days, the seed began growing slowly and gradually. She added organic manure that she prepared herself, watered well, and put in her best efforts for her purpose to be fulfilled.
But one fine day, she lost her patience and left taking care of it. Left it the way it was and insects attacked it and the plant was slowly dying. Her mom could see everything but she let it happen to make her child learn.
And One day it was completely dead.
Siya threw the pot out of anger and cried in front of her mother, complaining that it was her first birthday as a teen and she was given a “plant” but why?
Her mom understood that it was the right time to explain everything to her now.
As one enters his/her teens one develops a bit of understanding and viewpoint, and a whole new world of thoughts will start building in
And she wants her daughter to excel and learn good values before she starts out.
In the beginning, it was hard for you to take care of the plant and to be patient, just as one has to be in their life..any new beginning will not come easy and one has to stay calm and let things happen as it happens.
Siya did put her best efforts into keeping her goal in her mind, her mother advised her to always remember to focus on the purpose
She did appreciate the materialistic gifts for once but her mother observed that she had the most beautiful shine in her eyes when she saw her efforts working out, asking her to always pay more value to her work and actions. Outer happiness should never win over inner satisfaction.
Her mother wants her daughter to add good values in her life, the more you add goodness, the brighter your life will shine through. Always “add value” to your life. The day one quits putting one’s steps, as the plant dies when it was not taken care of, one’s life would also lose its aliveness… she further added on to never give up on the efforts.
And lastly, she said that she knew Siya wanted to see that sunflower bloom, So she planted another and kept it secretly to give to her later…
Siya understood that she found her best friends in her parents who were so thoughtful of her…Her parents became her chosen friends and then she began admiring her sunflower….and kept the lessons learned, locked in her heart to guide her forever in her life ahead.
